Safety - Know Before You Go
The Park offers a variety of water-based activities for all ages and all swim levels. Height restrictions are posted for all attractions and enforced. We strongly suggest that minors under the age of 18 be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. The parent/guardian is solely responsible for supervision of their minors. The park does not assume any responsibility or liability for unattended minors. The park cannot accept any responsibility for unattended minors. Children are the responsibility of the parent or guardian.
Only you know your own, your child's, or anyone you are supervising level of swimming skills. We strongly recommend all Guests under 48" or who are weak or non-swimmers wear Coast Guard approved lifejackets where appropriate. In the wave pool, all guests under 48" are REQUIRED to wear a lifejacket and be accompanied by an adult. We insist that parents keep their children within arms reach for their close supervision on all water activities. Life Jackets are available FREE OF CHARGE at Guest Information located inside the park. When in doubt, wear a life jacket!
Diving is not permitted in any pool or attraction at the park.
Proper swimwear must be worn on all rides and attractions.

VIRGINIA GRAEME BAKER POOL AND SPA SAFETY ACT - On December 19th 2008 the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act went into effect. This new law requires VGB Compliant Pool Drain Grates. We are VGB Compliant but please note in some applications these grates have a raised profile off the floor as mandated by the Law.
Warning: Raised Grate - All of our raised grates have a red circle highlighting their location. They are designed to be stepped on but in shallow water situations they may pose a tripping hazard. |
Individual attractions and rides are subject to closure and may not be open the entire day.
Water Country may alternate rides that are open.

Frequently Asked Questions
What if I forgot my bathing suit, sunglasses or sunscreen?
All of these items and many more may be purchased at the Water Country Gift Shop. We accept cash, credit cards, and travelers check (US $ only).
Are tubes required on all attractions?
For all rides that require tubes, they are provided free at the bottom of each attraction. You may also choose to rent a tube for use in the Whirlpool and Wave Pool but these attractions do not require a tube. Rental tubes are particularly recommended on busy days in an effort to avoid waiting in line for a tube and then the attraction. Tubes can be rented at the Red & White Striped Rental Tent near the park entrance. When you are not using your tube, check it at the tube shack and we will give you a wristband. You can exchange the wristband for another tube as often as needed throughout the day.
Are there lockers available to store my belongings?
Lockers are also available for rent at the same Red and White Striped Tent. These are available on a first-come, first serve basis and feature unlimited access throughout the day. For your convenience, lockers are available in three locations – Entry (front of the park), Geronimo (middle of the park), Pirate’s Lagoon (kiddie area). Water Country is not responsible for items left unattended or stolen.
Where can I find a changing station?
Changing stations are located in all restrooms throughout the park.

Water Country requires all donation requests to be made in writing via mail (address listed below) or fax (603-427-6644) - Attention: Donation Requests. We do not take requests via email - even though the majority of requests are sincere in nature, it isn’t always easy to make that determination.
Valid organizations:
- Local schools (K-12) raising funds for events/activities that impact a majority of the
student body
- Local youth sports/sporting events that charge minimal participation fees
- Local library summer reading programs
- Church/youth/scholarship programs
- Organizations raising funds for other charities
The written request must appear on official letterhead from the organization making the request – including a valid tax-exempt number and should include the name of the event, date, location, response deadline and a specific description of who will benefit from the proceeds raised. The name of the contact person and/or your name should also be listed somewhere on the letter.
**Due to the ever-increasing volume of donation requests, Water Country is now placing a distance limit on the requests we will consider. Groups and organizations outside of a 40 mile radius of Portsmouth, New Hampshire (03801) will not be eligible for consideration. If you are beyond the 40 mile radius and currently have us listed on a contact/mailing list, we respectfully ask you to remove our name.
Explanation of this policy is not a promise of a donation. If it is determined that we are able to help, the tickets will be sent to the address listed on the written request, to the attention of the contact person. Because of the large volume of requests received, we regret that are unable to reply to those we are not able to assist.
